Galdone shares the classical singing story of three kittens who are troubled by their mittens. It's mixture of happy and sad events that come throughout the day. It's a wonderful story with a large font and full page illustrations.

For: fairy tale/folklore fans; readers looking for a classic retelling that is accessible for young readers.
Possible red flags: misbehaving and not being mindful.

There's something so wonderful about nonsense. The kittens faces are so expressive, even though they also look pretty realistic.

This book is so cute! who couldn't love the three little kittens who lost their mittens, and how they solve their mitten-related problems. also gotta love the mom cat, who understands tough love. This is a classic kids book. I should have no problem reading it to my kids, since I've already memorized it!

Again the boys love these editions of classic folktales. They giggled and enjoyed the Mother Kitten’s faces and that each kitten had mittens in each of the boys’ favorite colors.

A popular story about three preciocious felines who are sent out to play by their mother. In their games, they lose the mittens they have been provided. Returning with their heads hung low, the kittens learn that unles the items are found, no pie awaits them. Newly found mittens allow the three to have some pie, but this leads to a new and punitive measure. Neo liked the book and read/sang it to our guest, his Grandma Red. While some of the reading was by rote, he did spell out some parts when stopped and shown that he was not following the written text.
