An adorable & fun read! I love when authors take tropes (in this case: fake dating, enemies to friends to lovers) and twist them just a smidge so the story feels new and exciting. This is a workplace enemies to lovers with fake exes.

Thoughts: I loved this book SO MUCH. I had it out from the library (skip-the-line loans for the win!) and it immediately moved to the top of my TBR when one of my best friends texted me describing it simply as “GOLD.” And after reading it, I wholeheartedly agree. I think I mentioned this in my reviews of The Marriage Game and The Voting Booth last year, but I still haven’t found the word or phrase to describe what this kind of book is for me. The kind where I am not even or maybe just halfway through, but I already know (unless something completely jarring and out of left field occurs) that this book is going to be a 5 star, favorite book, future reread, constant recommendation to others. There’s just something about that kind of book, that not only it is an amazing book that as a reader that I am generally grateful for experiencing, but it’s the kind of book that strikes just this perfect balance in its conveyance of emotions and themes, both tough and light, combined with such excellent storytelling and characters that I know I will absolutely want to visit it again, hands down, no question.  In The Ex Talk in particular, I loved: the dynamic between Dominic and Shay and the development of their relationship, everything about podcasts and public radio, the exploration of Shay’s grief and the grief of both her mom and Phil, exploration of Shay’s feelings about being single, her relationships in general (romantic or not), her job, and her identity as an adult, the city of Seattle as the setting and the way the different characters felt about their connections to it, and, of course, Steve Rogers Goldstein. I really adored so many of the supporting characters as well, especially Ruthie and Diana. I was slightly concerned about reading this book right now when I have seen so much hype about it, but it certainly is warranted and I am glad to add to it! Read The Ex Talk!

What are some books that, while reading, did you instantly know would become favorites and future rereads? And what the heck should we call these kind of books??

The characters were super lovable in my opinion, but the plot got a little annoying at some parts and a little over dramatic at other parts for me. That’s personal preference though. I recommend it! It’s satisfying.
