I wish there was an actual conversation with Yaqui and Piedad. I don't feel like Piddy learned anything other than to simply leave bad situations. Also the dance number at the end was super corny.

If you want a similar book that's written much better, I would recommend "I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter" by Erica Sanchez.

I didn't really know what to expect going in but it was a really strong story about how terrifying it is to be a teenager and to be bullied. I didn't have the same teenage experience but I saw a lot of myself in her trauma and in her resilience. I loved all the kind and supportive people in her life.
