This reminds me a lot of Criminal Minds and might be a bit to much gore/horror for me. I do not like the main character even a little bit and I'm not sure if he's written that way or if it's just me.
I'm not a fan of fake rape charges as a story device. I found it really hard to understand his struggle and it was wrapped up to neatly. Also the main character has a serious scene with suicide ideation during a sky dive that I feel needs a content warning.

I may continue but at the moment it is a DNF. The books MC isn't fun to read, their is no real mystery and Luc hasn't even done anything to solve the case and I'm 50% in. Like nothing has really happened with the main case other then women dieing and being tortured, nothing is being solved or worked on.

I enjoyed the quick pace of this book and felt it read kind of like a TV show? Example being Netflix's The Fall, where you have the suspects perspective along with the detectives. Reginald King makes for an incredibly creepy individual and where I normally can find empathy, he was very difficult to feel for (probably done on purpose).

And as a final note regarding the ending,
I felt like murdering Billie was pretty gratuitous?? And didnt really fit, was brushed over and then you're only like 15 pages from the end and just left so unsatisfied by everything...
but it did not take away from the build up and characters progression up to that point which is why I docked 1 star but it remains at 4 stars.
