It was enjoyable and quick. Its about a man named Same, that can't choose who he loves... between sisters. Sound familiar? (Cough: Twilight). The love triangle was a nice representation of past love and "what if".
Good book overall. I just wish the characters had a little more drama too them. I normally ready mystery type series with a little more excitement. Will read her books again though!
I was bothered by this book the whole time I read it. The premise may not be unbelievable in this world, but it was very upsetting. Too graphic for my tastes. But the kiss of death was that even though in the end everything turned out exactly the way you'd want it to, I just felt icky. And empty. And unsatisfied.
I read this a number of years ago and though I am sure it is as equally well written as other novels by Freethy, I could not enjoy this one.
This book is based on a basic betrayal that was hard, if not impossible for me to overlook. Allie has a tremendous crush on her sister's boyfriend for years. She does everything she can to be involved in their lives, tagging along when they do anything, working very hard to be Sam's friend.
In a moment of intense stupidity and insecurity, Sam gets drunk and sleeps with Allie. She gets pregnant.
It bothers me tremendously that Ali could so easily betray her sister. For this reason, I could not sympathize with her pain. I also could not be excited by her happily ever after. I am not sure why I finished this book.
I didn't like Ali or Sam and felt nothing but tremendous sympathy for her sister. I hoped that there would be a book about her, no such luck.
this was not for me but I could see others would love it.

Oh, good lord, how much stupid can you have in one book? This one was a freebie from ibooks and it's VERY easy to see why. I read about a quarter of it and then skimmed the rest. Anyone for a big, stinky ball of cheese?
This is a story about a bitch, who ruins the lives of others and then spends a decade bitching about it and whining and complaining and playing stupid mind games with her husband and sister all to feed in to her idiotic inferiority complex and low self esteem issues.
While the plot really could have been an interesting one, the writing squanders all potential. It's so funny to me how many people who only write for fun get published. Barbara Freethy apparently has been published multiple times, which means people are actually BUYING this garbage! A novel should have a beginning, a middle and an end. It should also not be a straight line from the first point to the last. There should be some hitches and some twists and turns. This story was very lacking in anything that wasn't a recollection of the past or a redundant complaint about the present situation. Ultimately, nothing happens here... aaaaaand then all the conflict is magically resolved because everyone loves a happy ending in a chick novel.
I'm all for chick lit or books that would make good Lifetime movies or easy summer reads, but this is too far in the direction of brainlessness. If this book sounds good to you from the synopsis, I'd suggest you skip it and go for a Nicholas Sparks instead.
