strange but thought-provoking ... I like a book that makes me think . And I loved reading a book that takes place in my "neck of the woods."

This book made me want to pull my eyeballs out so that I never had to read ever again.
The story has an unnecessary framing narrative that allows us to learn about the woeful life of Ethan Frome. Ethan is poor and married to his cousin, Zeena, who has chronic pain. When Zeena's cousin, Mattie, comes to take care of her Ethan finds him self falling in love Mattie (note that she would be his second cousin). After a whole lot of nothing and a bad dinner together, Ethan and Mattie confess their feelings and then decide that they cannot live without one another. Why the two love interests decided to commit suicide after only kissing a total of three (3) times is beyond me. What's even further beyond me is why the chosen method of suicide was a toboggan accident because clearly that was never going to work. Needless to say, the only good character in this book was the cat.

it's short book that tells a long love story. Ethan Frome is the first love story that i liked. the author created a mastry liked introduction of why and how the narrater unfold the past story of Ethan's. the last chapter concluded the meaning of the work.
I think the reason i like this book is because i have the same opoine with the author on love and marriage.

And this is how I was introduced to Edith Wharton. Amazing, beautiful. And sad. Very sad. Tragic love, tragic man. Yet I want more.

I feel like I was really let down by the book, I had some expectations but felt like nothing really happened.
It was still enjoyable.
