This book got me back into reading. I love it. Every character has flaws, but they all have their reasons, (most of those reasons being Heathcliff related). Has an abrupt but satisfying ending. A little slow around the middle but generally has crazy stuff happening in every chapter.

Everybody sucked and I loved it! I did not come into this with any expectations (which I think was helpful, as it seems many are disappointed that it’s not as much of a romance as anticipated) and I fully enjoyed the atmosphere, the weird relationships between characters, and the writing. It took me forever to get through, and I do think I lost some momentum after Catherine died (spoiler I guess? Though it was published over 170 years ago so… lol). But I ultimately loved how it ended and feel a lot of compassion for the all-consuming love that destroyed literally everything in its wake. Glad to have finally read it!

I see the hype, and I can appreciate that hype, but it's not my style.  The characters are just bad people save for like three of them. Nature versus nurture.

this book goes crazy in a way that's very difficult to convey if you haven't read it. not a romance, this begins with "what internalized racism/classism does to a mf" and evolves into "two houses full of people who hate each other in increasingly absurd ways." i enjoyed every minute (even if the characters didn't)!
