When I tell you that women carried this book, I MEAN IT. The men... well, they were there.
Actually, I did like some of them. I can't actually say their names because it would be a spoiler, but there were some I liked!!
Definitely the most annoying characters in this are Ezra and Hiram. Ezra is for obvious reasons: he's misogynistic and so stuck on his role that he can't find a way to be a great leader without being overbearingly commanding. Hiram is simply because he's a baby. The man was so coddled all his life that now he's a man-child who doesn't know how to not get whatever he wants, and who blames EVERYONE for things that he also has a responsibility on. He lashes out because he's stressed (which means he throws a temper tantrum when mommy wants him to take a shower when he's playing), he is excited over the threat of violence (basically when the kindergartens are rioting against the end of play time) and he doesn't know

Love:
I speed-ran this book. I read it in less than 24 hours. I absolutely loved everything about it. All of the characters had a lot of depth and I really enjoyed being able to see it from not just Shira’s POV but all of the members of the flight’s POV. There was a very strong story and plot line - following Shira as she tried to get revenge for herself and her family.
Don’t Love:
Honestly, I don’t think there is anything I can say that I didn’t love in this book. I do normally love spicey books and this book had little to no spice but the romance, plot-line, fluff, angst, everything else just really made up for that. I normally don’t like books that switch character POV’s either but in this book it was amazingly done and I loved getting to view things from the rest of the flight’s perspective.
Final Thoughts
The (Not) Cursed Dragon is an incredibly deep and engaging story. The characters are all loveable in their own way and there is an incredible depth to them for such a short book. There is a fair few trigger warnings I would be aware of - slavery, kidnapping, imprisonment, murder (including murder of family) - but if that’s something that you’re okay with I really recommend reading this book. It’s a not-so-spicey reverse harem based on dragon-shifters with an incredible tale of revenge and resentment. If reverse harems, shifters, angst and romance are your type of things then I’d say this book is a must read. I am incredibly excited to jump straight into the second book in this duology.

The Gods had cursed me with delusional mates.
Even with their unnaturally small noses, I wouldn’t kick them out of bed.

Character Spotlight: The Alchemist
Okay - she may have only showed up in the last few chapters but she instantly stole my heart. She reminds me of my granny. She’s so incredibly dirty and it makes me laugh so much. I also loved exploring her backstory with her sister and I really hope in book 2 we get to see more of her and maybe even meet her sister! Although she was only in the book for a short period of time - she was instantly incredibly lovable, funny and a character with real depth and meaning behind all they do.

At 30% and this is slow moving. Author is relying on stereotypes for each MMC rather than actually giving them personality. I also don’t get the FMC’s motivation. She seems pretty chill for having been held captive for years and not explaining that her family is dead is a super weird thing to do. It’s clearly setting up for some kind of reveal/miscommunication but I’m not sure I can power through to finish it.
Finished it. Ehh. It ends on a cliff hanger but I’m not sure I care to continue.
