A lighthearted nothing book about cardboard cutout characters. Definitely don’t have to think, probably better if you don’t because you have to suspend your believe a little bit. I mean a dog that barks 911? What does that even mean??? And makes the bed without even being trained? Sure Jan. The conflicts don’t make sense, the chemistry is very tell no show, the backstory is not explored nearly enough to make me care about the characters. I was looking for a mindless read and that is certainly what I got!

Thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca for making this book available to me via #Netgalley.

I cannot wait for this book to be finally out in the world. I need everyone and their dogs to read this book. I will try not to spoil it.
Violet March and her Dalmatian, Sprinkles are known by all the residents of the Island. Her father the police chief and her family police officers. Since the death of her mother, she has been raised by the islanders and they all see her as their daughter. She volunteers at the residential home and all play bingo with them during the week. She runs a cupcake business that is mostly patronized by her friends and family on the island. After her heart was broken by a fireman the last thing she wants is another firefighter making her heart race.

But, then steamy sexy Sam Nash arrives on the island as a Fire Marshal. He is not alone, he arrives with his Dalmatian, Cinder who is a fire safety dog. Since the two Dalmatians look-alike, Violet and Sam's first meeting involves her calling the police on him for stealing her dog! [It was so freaking cute and embarrassing].

Soon he finds that he has more reasons to stay on the island than the softball tournament that causes trifle.

This book is everything!

I received an ARC of this title from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

She's the daughter of the chief of police. He's the new fire marshal in town. She teaches yoga and bakes cupcakes. He teaches fire safety and gives out tickets for violations like they're candy. The only thing they have in common? Their love for Dalmatians.

Violet March and Sam Nash do not get off on the right foot. Kind of hard to do when Violet accuses Sam of dognapping her beloved Sprinkles. After all, there's only one Dalmatian in town and everyone knows it's hers. Surely the new guy at the fire department wouldn't be so stupid as to dognap Sprinkles, even in the lead-up to the big softball tournament between the police and fire departments. Everyone knows Violet's off-limits. Imagine Violet's surprise when she--and everyone else in town--starts seeing double the spots, because, as it turns out, Sam is the proud owner and handler of Cinder, his partner and fire safety co-teacher.

Will opposites attract? Is there room for two Dalmatians in this small North Carolina beach town? Can Violet's senior center besties stop meddling for five minutes? And when Violet and Sam strike a wager revolving around the outcome of the softball tournament, who will come out as the top dog?

Wilson's brilliant and fun rom-com is a perfect summer read--or, really, any time of the year read. Readers will adore not only Violet and Sam, and the polar opposite Sprinkles and Cinder, but the entire cast of wild characters and the shenanigans that they get up to!

Clean romance and incredibly light. Like no depth at all. The dogs were the only good part.

This story was definitely meant to be a cute lighthearted romance and mainly it managed to be just that with the classical sprinkle of the cliche (and a bit cringy in my book) hey, everyone in this story exists so that we can get together, and their whole world revolves around the main characters love story.

Violet, the female protagonist, was supposed to be the sunshine quirky silly character that everyone loves but unfortunately she just comes off as annoying and childish and a bit of a brat, which is not surprising considering that the people around her are extremely intrusive and think they have a say in her life, treating her like a child that doesn't know any better, even if she's supposed to be a grown woman.

Sam, the love interest, is presented as this grumpy, he's-been-through-so-much guy, but that's the thing, you just get to hear about that, but you don't get to see any of this, the only way you know this about him is because the author tells you that a number of times and in the end he even says so, to paraphrase: "hey violet btw you saved me I was so broken you saved my life girl I was nothing and you put me back together". Unfortunately other than being told that he's a broken man you don't really get that feeling through anything else.

All in all this story could be a very cute and easy beach read and it does have dogs in it, so if you like a clean quick romance this might be for you, but unfortunately it really wasn't my cup of tea.

This was a nice, fluffy light read. I really enjoyed the chemistry between the main characters and wish I could have had more of them together before they felt they were in love. It seemed like they didn’t spend any significant amount of time together. Some of the descriptions were funny- he has eyes like “corked glass” and she has eyes like “sea glass” and “mermaid hair” (the main character mentions it several times. Also, after one criticism from Violet, I don’t understand why Sam suddenly feels the need to “untrain” his dog. He seems too smart for that, although I know it leads to other plot points later in the story. One last thing that made me roll my eyes was the two main characters referred to as “you crazy kids” towards the end. It doesn’t get more trite than that. Despite those minor things, I still had fun reading this book and would check out other books written by this author.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for allowing me access to this eARC for my honest opinion!

Loved reading this book, the dogs were absolutely adorable. Turtle beach town was such a dream place to be at and I could imagine it as if I were there. I will also be adopting a Dalmatian because Sprinkles and Cinder are the cutest!!I do think that when Sam and Violet got together it was very short and ended quickly. I overall loved this book and Sam the firefighter was definitely swoon worthy . 6_6
