Re-read September 2021: Gosh, you know, I’d forgotten what YA books used to be like. I cringed so hard for a lot of this book. The dialogue was cringe, the characters were cringe, all of it. So happy we as a collective have moved past finding books like this the epitome of good fiction.

First Read July 2018 (4/5):I didn't like the romance in the beginning. I know, it's hard to believe after reading all of it. Kind of like Mara herself, I grew to like the romance as I got to know Noah better.
As I was reading this book I was asking myself, what makes a book 5 stars to me instead of 4? Well the last half of this book made it a 5 star for me. I have so many questions and I'm so interested in what happens next. I can't wait to read the next book!
Edit: I dropped it down to four stars upon further review because of the slow start.

Oh.... As soon as I read the last sentence of this amazingly creepy book I was not only looking foward to read the next two book in the series, but to re-read it. It was so action packed and so lovely and creepy and perfect and Michelle Hodkin deserves an award for this because oh my God IT WAS LIFE.
