ENG
the best part of this book is probably the representation and the time dedicated to it in the story. but i also liked the friendship and developing romance.
(fmc and mmc, both suffer from ptsd; mmc has an amputated leg and suffers from depression)

I'm currently in a romance reading season, discovering new-to-me tropes, themes and authors. My first read by romance author, Roni Loren was What If You & Me, a standalone and 2nd novel in her Say Everything series.
In What If You & Me, we meet Andi Lockley, horror novelist and podcaster, who has channeled her past trauma in a way to educate women on how to protect themselves from harm. Her new hunky neighbor/landlord is ex-firefighter Hill Dawson, who hasn't properly dealt with his own trauma of losing his leg in a fire.
This book had so much for me to love! The sparks between Andi and Hill were explosive in their forced proximity, opposites attract, grump-and-sunshine romance. I loved the sensitive nature in which Loren addressed mental health and grief, which Andi and Hill were both able to express and work through together. The character development was so rich, and enhanced for me, as the reader, the sexual tension between the two. And holy smokes, their chemistry! 🔥🔥🔥
This one came so highly recommended by a few fellow Bookstagrammers. And from it, I've found a new author and series I MUST read more of!
 I loved this book!

Another great one from Roni Loren!
I felt like the characters were well-developed and genuine, and their struggles both internally and externally seemed legitimate and made sense with their backstories. I can’t say I’ve ever read a book with Andi’s particular history, and it both drew me in and crushed my heart. I love the emphasis on learning how to move through trauma together, instead of an insistence that everything be perfectly wrapped up and healed before they can be together (as if that ever truly happens).
Can’t wait to read Eliza’s story next.

I expected to really love this book. Andi was such a fun character in Yes & I Love You. The grumpy firefighter as the love interest had me ready. It just fell really fell short for me. Without spoilers, the book just felt like a repeat of work done before, with a rushed storyline.

Andi had a lot of trauma, which I think was written decently well, but the reason for that causing her to want only wanting a friends with benefit relationship didn't make the most sense to me. I think her reasoning could have been explained better. It also felt incredibly rushed from, "we're going to do things slowly cause I freak out" to "let's hook up now." That part did not feel realistic and just felt like a way to get to smut quicker. I also was a little disappointed that it was another friends with benefits "no dating" situation, because thats the same as the couple in "Yes & I love You." It just felt like a copy in a lot of ways. </spoiler)

The thing I love most about this book is the amount of RESPECT the MCs have for each other. Both our MCs experienceed trauma and it was just so heartwarming to see the hero and heroine show so much attentiveness for each other's boundaries.

This is a highly recommended solid love story with solid representation (from an outside perspective). I loved this one better than the previous installment!
