I have been a dnd player since 3.5 and it is great to see the series finally become so popular.
The manual has some flaws and some questionable balance choices, but it is a good start to the new edition.

Super helpful for someone who has no knowledge on D&D at all and started playing Baldur's Gate 3 and is obsessed but has no idea what they're doing half the time (it's me, the someone is me lol).

My regular gaming group wanted to play Spelljammer so I was forced to read this to understand how 5th Edition worked.
I am logging this review as a protest against them because we have so many other better systems out there to use but noooooooo...you wanted actual D+D rules. Well, fine. Now you get actual D+D rules.

So, this is really a review of the new updated 2024 version of this book. The ISBN number is the same, and there doesn't seem to be an edition for the new one, so I am putting this here.
This is perhaps the best version of this ruleset, and it appears in a gorgeous new package. The art of the book, both inside and out, is glorious (especially in the alt cover version). The rules are not really greatly different, but they are streamlined and improved by some additions. Ultimately, this makes for quite a good book that contains the rules of the game presented in the most understandable and enjoyable format that they've been presented in to date, at least in my opinion.

Outstanding edition of D&D. This edition makes it super easy to jump in for new players, while also giving older players things to chew on. Lots of quality of life changes, and some pretty darned good streamlining.
I mean what else can you say, it's D&D. 5 stars.
