Wow! This book checks all the boxes and then some

Amazing world building, stunning cast of fascinating characters. Amazing story telling and pacing. I cannot get enough of this book. I love the main characters and nothing seems forced though that is a testament to the amazing writing as this story line in another authors hand might read terribly quite easily, here is soars in subtle grace and it is a wonderful read!

It's beautifully written, and the universe is really vivid and well thought out. I thought the first third of it was the best, where Khai is training with the brothers. I wish more of the characters we met in that section could have been featured later in the book, too. Zariya was a nice character, but kind of boring.

One other thing: it annoys me that people here seem to use "YA" as some kind of insult, or way to describe this book as something lesser. Firstly, it's NOT YA. Featuring characters that are teenagers does not make a book YA. And even if it did, why do people judge YA as something unworthy of praise? If people don't like the book, they should say what didn't work about it. But pegging something as bad simply because they judge it to be "YA" is just stupid.
