The artwork in this was amazing, I almost wanted to give it a higher rating. The story was well-written I, personally, just didn't love it.

When I heard about this book years ago I picked it up in a bookstore and skipped to the ending so I could know the lesson I was supposed to learn without reading the book. Little did I know that the book was about NOT doing that. Oops

It was ok??? My first book I’ve read in a while and I honestly kinda expected more because I’ve been reading from this novelist since elementary.

Not saying it’s bad and a lot of the reasons why I didn’t enjoy it that much was really on me… it’s a great novel but social media & my attention span has been total screwed.. If you’re trying to get back into personal reading start out with novels.. if it wasn’t a novel with pictures I probably wouldn’t have even finished the book lol.

I'm glad I've never read the apparently huge book this graphic novel is based on. Thanks to this GN I am now sure I don't want to read it. If it is this dang boring when it is abridged and fully illustrated the book itself must be truly awful. Well, that and I do have a natural bias against preachy/spiritual tomes and this was one.

As a side note - when are GN artists going to learn to draw realistically proportioned women?

Ok, so, lots of people have recommended this book to me since I was in high school but I never had the urge to read it. I stumbled across it at the library as a graphic novel. So I said, “meh why not? This would be a quick way to get the story.” Long story short, I really really hated it.

You can really tell a guy used to illustrating superheros drew this comic, but it does give a musing fable some oomph
