Not my usual style of story but it was promoted as the quintessential hopepunk novel for its feel good qualities so I wanted to give it a try. It was good and did feel “gentle” (although there is action as well). An exiled young half-goblin becomes emperor when his father and brothers die and he has to count on the kindness of the court to help him navigate his new role.

This started off excruciatingly slow, but by the end I was totally hooked. It ended up being a great read!
