This was the stupidest Twilight wannabe book I've ever read and I can't believe many ate that shit up!!!
(The Miosis - Mitosis scene was sooooo a big give away)

And that smelling-her stuff

I don't know what filled me more with rage🤬
The pathetic Female lead that is LeaLea (Leighyon)
Or the way this book tried so hard to not reveal anything until the end

Meet Leighton, the epitom of "woo-is-me, I've been abused all my life and hate anyone to see my scars cause I'm ashamed of them for some reason but every male I see falls for me cause I'm ""special"" and "strong weak" and cry 😢 all the time and everytime I face a problem I scurry like a mouse 🐁 to my corner"

I can shout at weed that it's a beautiful flower all day long but at the end of the day, it's just a weed
Telling LEALEAH "God I hated that name" that she is the strongest person ever because she took her abuse like a champ and never complained and never sought help and never fought back and never learned to defend herself is the STUPIDEST SHIT YOU COUKD EVER WRITE!!! 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

NO! Scratch that! You want to know what is stupider???

Bringing you mate to a predator infested school without giving her any heads up or telling her the truth or preparing her to defend herself

Stupider is when they tell you over and over to not wander alone cause it's not safe but you keep being attacked everytime you run and you keep doing it anyways!!! 🤪🤪🤪

God! I wanted to strangle her and them myself

I can't believe there are ppl who gave this shit 5 stars

A paranormal RH academy romance sounds like a specific, perhaps not found often, trope. It's not. So I went into this book knowing what I would get.

You have your beautiful female lead with a formerly shitty life (and by shitty I mean this girl was living in an actual garbage pile in the backyard of her abusive moms house) until she is rescued by a set of men who all have conflicting feelings about said woman joining the boys club. (And of course this most beautiful, gorgeous, stunning, paragon of a woman doesn't even know she's mildly pretty).

And then there's the men. There's the surly one, afraid of love. The eager one who's a little puppy like, the protective one, the childhood friend and the demon one. This is all very cliche, but again, I knew what I was getting into.

There are many paranormal RH academy romance novels I love, but this wasn't one of them. The execution was... poor. To say the least. But my new years resolution was to be a little less judge-y. So I'm going to limit myself to five complaints listed below.

1. The main girls name is Leighton. In my head I keep calling her noodle. Because she reminds me of a ladle, picking up noodles.

2. Leighton moans when she eats good food (cue the forehead smack).

3. One of the guys, Colt, is described as having, "Violet orbs that seemed to swirl in deepening shades." Must I explain why this is grating?

4. There was the classic phrase, "I have a feeling you're going to make things a lot more interesting around here," This phrase was utilized by the girl who I think is set up to be Leightons trademark, less pretty bff who's not part of the cool-bitchy girls squad at school.

5. The tense situation was all over the place. We were going from present tense to past tense in the same sentance.

Despite all of these flaws, I did like some things. The book was entertaining (although I often think I was laughing for the wrong reasons).

The reason I gave this book 3 stars is because I have a soft spot for paranormal RH academy books. And so Legacy of Shadows did hit on a few of those points that I love.

Academy romance is one of my guilty pleasures. It's not for everyone. It's often criticized. I still love it. I'll continue to read it until it no longer hits the spot.

I went into this book only knowing that it was a paranormal RH romance. But at the beginning I sort of forgot that and I was shocked but even though I didn't know I figured it out from the hints. What I wasn't expecting was that all of the guys would be something else. This is the first book where someone is an incubus which I'm happy about since no one really talks about them. The MMC is sort of annoying, like I understand where she's coming from but evrry single time, she's running away.

There is no universe in which a sexually explicit reverse harem needs to feature a freshly 17 year old girl. There was ZERO benefit added to the plot, and NOTHING would have changed if the setting had been a group of 20 year olds in college vs 17 year olds in high school. This is sick and pedophilic.

The story was interesting, and I would have enjoyed continuing, but the only thing that made it palatable was mentally altering their ages.

I will never recommend this series, and I refuse to support this author if they continue to write about literal minors having explicit sexual interactions.

I'm not a prudish person by any means, however if your story features minors, your intimacy should be closed door or fade to black. If you wish to include detailed descriptions, then simply age up your charaters appropriately.

i wanted to like this more than i did, it wasn’t what i thought it was going to be. Leighton frustrated me more than anything, i sorta feel a little bad for her but not enough to excuse her being that irritating. the mmc’s were kinda bland, the story isn’t really that unique either.. i will still be finishing the rest because i need to know that i was right and she wasn’t completely powerless.
