he Redemption of Callie & Kayden is heartbreakingly beautiful.

With that dozy of a cliff-hanger left at the end of coincidence I just knew it wouldn’t be long before I picked up the next in the series. It’s been quite some time since I’ve got my teeth into the Romance genre and I’d forgotten how much drama can be packed into a 350 page book. I’m not complaining but I could feel the whiplash starting to take effect, it was a fun ride.

So the book takes off pretty much where it left off. Kayden is in a critical condition in hospital after suffering multiple stab wounds inflicted by his father and by his own hand. He wrestles with his own conscience and the fact that Callie was the one to see him leaves a wound deeper than any of his self-inflicted cuts. He can’t bear to think about her witnessing him bleeding out from the wound in his side and his torn-up wrists. His cold-hearted mother books him into an establishment that will help him deal with his self-harming. I know it sounds like the very least a parent could do but this woman doesn’t deserve the title, Mother. She was well aware of what Kayden’s father was doing to him and his brother’s but she turned a blind eye. It really beggars belief what some people will do to keep their life of luxury. If I even had the slight suspicion that someone was beating the living daylights out of my children they’d be gone quicker than their feet could carry them.

Callie grows so much as a character in this book. Gone is the meek, mild and quiet young woman that we were introduced to in book 1. Through the tutelage of both Seth and Kayden she has matured and become more sure within herself. The confidence is there for all to see. Once the talk of the town starts gaining momentum and people start accusing Kayden of attempted murder and being suicidal, Callie comes into her own. She knows the truth and she isn’t willing to go down without a fight. Although Kayden is keen to keep his distance from her, Callie refuses to ignore her own feelings but accepting he needs space to heal. Can two people who are dealing with a lot of pain really come together and be healthy? It’s a question I constantly had floating around my mind.

Callie’s relationship with her own parents seems awkward and with its own sense of conflict. She’s been quiet for six years due to being raped by her brother, Jackson’s best friend, Caleb. Its unreal to think that someone could be going through that trauma and have to come face to face with your tormentor/abuser everyday for six years. He was considered to be a part of the family and although Callie didn’t tell her parent’s about the assault it must have been awful to have him taunting her, I’m not sure if I could’ve stayed so silent. When her mother tells Cassie that she has to stop seeing Kayden due to his actions toward Caleb (he beat him to within an inch of his life in book 1) they are supporting her rapist, then she knows enough is enough and will confess what went on as long as Kayden also tells someone about his father. Trauma comes full circle.

The beginning of this book was a little sad. Jessica Sorensen is very good at making you feel everything the characters do, but this also gave me a slightly depressed feeling while reading the first hundred pages. Luckily, when Callie en Kayden got back together, everything instantly got better. There were a lot of hot and steamy passages that I really enjoyed. Overall, I think this book was better than the first one, because Callie en Kayden's relationship felt less shallow. So if you love the first one, you should definitely try this one out.

Solid 4 stars!

Quicker moving than the first book I would say.

Also something to note, great editor, first set of books in so long that were not riddled with errors. I know that some of the books I read are lower budget, but I was just really happy to see this based on what else I have read recently.

Finally finished. It took me a while to read because I couldn't get into it. The first book was great! I loved it! But with this one it was so much harder to get into. I wanted to really love this book because I was waiting so long to read it, but in the end I was disappointed. It was just ok for me.

Let's just take a moment and breathe! And let's just take a moment to realize that I've actually finally read The Redemption of Callie and Kayden...

After what happened to Kayden in The Coincidence his relationship with Callie is hanging on the balance for a bit.He doesn't want to burden her with his problems and he thinks that she can find someone better. But what he doesn't realize is that they were literally made for each other.Callie is devastated after what happened to Kayden and she wants to help him.But of course,he keeps pushing her away until they can't resist anymore and finally get together.Kayden finally realizes that he doesn't have to do it alone. They both have to face their pasts and start planning their future because life's too short and they've spent the majority of it feeling broken. They saved each other and it's time to move on.But the person who ruined Callie's life and the person who ruined Kayden's life, are still free.Kayden decides to pour his heart and soul out and finally say what's been going on in his life and what really happened to him.And Callie decides to say everything that happened to her.And in the end...they finally pick up the pieces for each other and they're whole again!!

I'm just surprised by how much I love Jessica Sorensen's writing. She's become one of my favorite authors. Her characters are amazing and I was so glad that we got to see more of Seth and Luke.I love them and I can't wait for Luke's story.I was so happy with how the book ended and that finally Callie and Kayden were happy together.I kinda hated Kayden's mother and could totally understand why he didn't like her.She just let his father do whatever he wanted without doing anything to stop him.I loved Callie and how strong she was when she told her parents what happened. She's an amazing character and I loved her relationship with the guys and the fact that she was trying really hard to get over what happened...even if sometimes it wasn't that easy.I also loved Kayden and Callie's moments together. And the end kinda has me wondering what happened to Luke's sister.I think we'll find out in the next one.I loved the plot and I'm probably gonna be obsessed with this one for a while. It was a beautiful and emotional story that really touched me.I think that fans of Callie and Kayden won't be disappointed.I certainly wasn't.I literally stayed up all night to finish it and I'm just so happy and sad at the same time, because even though I've read it there won't be any more Callie and Kayden and that's so sad.I'll miss them but,I think I'll see them again on The Destiny of Violet and Luke.

The Redemption of Callie and Kayden talks about love, freedom, moving on and learning to give and receive love. There were some amazing quotes but I'm not gonna include any and spoil anything so you'll just have to read it to find out what happens. It was a beautiful, amazing and really touching story that I'll always remember. And I'm glad that Callie and Kayden finally got their happily ever after!
