There was a chapter towards the end of the book, which details a conversation with a patient about an on/off sort-of-boyfriend of hers and whether he will change. Gottlieb made the suggestion, "Maybe he doesn't want to change" and it was a lightbulb reminder for me that some people do not want to change. It's something so simple and something I have known for years, but seem to had forgotten (probably for my own convenience), and that one line was enough for me to recall it and start getting my shit back together again. My bed has fresh sheets, I packed my winter clothes away, I dusted my skirting boards!!! I also scheduled some actual therapy for myself.

Long story short, it's a good book.
