My son loves the book. Loves it so much he rereads certain chapters. So, at his request, I read the book (audio/read).

It’s a really interesting story. Pete’s done his homework, having lived through a paradigm shift of his God-self vision, and not just drugged himself out to escape the sorrow of it; rather, he dug deep, kept searching. In the end, he’s found a good deal of peace. He also looked at his life and wrote about it with enough clarity that he’s helping others find their way to peace also.

We have children who have grown up in a word wholly unlike our own. As parents, though we “managed” it as well as possible (we think? Despite the missteps?) now with grown children the work continues, especially with the anxiety and questions these young generations must, inevitably, face.

Thanks, Pete for giving me some insight, some wisdom, so that I can better understand. Really glad I read.

Audiobook.
Absolutely loved this book. I didn’t really know Pete Holmes before but am fascinated by him now.
I loved the spiritual journey and the new way of this autobiography from a comedian.
Being in the now, being connected, god as the Burger King god. All of it was wonderful and eye opening.
Didn’t like the mushroom promotion somewhere in the middle but honestly who cares.
Things I picked up :
- the I is the awareness that is something else than the me. It is the thing noticing you are thinking. Not your personality or preferences
- your life is an interesting tv show. If you can see it like a good episode and not like it’s happening to you you can be more calm and at ease
- life happens for a reason. And your awareness is at the center of it

And a lot more

I got about 60 percent through this book and realized it wasn't for me. I loved the first half, but this started to feel more like a DMT/Joe Rogan-inspired sermon than anything else. Also, after watching all 3 seasons of Crashing, I realized I've already been told most of his story. Some parts of this book are hilarious and informative, but I'm going to pass on finishing this.

One of the best books I’ve read in a while. It’s a good mix of quick and witty anecdotes and longer chapters on religion, enlightenment, and personal growth. It feels very genuine, not preachy. All I can say is, “Yes, thank you.”

Aptly named. Really caught the Christian kid head zap that's laid on children. For me, the most satisfying piece of this book was the story about stealing crackers, where Pete has basic morality explained to him and actually gets it. Weirder than your basic comedian memoir, in a good way.

Funny, honest, and made me think more about my relationship with God.
