I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to read a book set in a very familiar place. UNC-Chapel Hill is super close to my hometown. I loved reading this book; it was a tough pill to swallow even though I’m well aware of UNC’s (ongoing) racist history/present. The way grief is covered, different types of trauma, and how race/gender in Southern societies is amazing. I can’t recommend this book enough.

Amazing! Top 5 book of the year. The pacing is quick and the plot is great! If you need out of a reading slump.

An all-around amazing book - plot, characters, literary writing style. Unexpected plot twists. Deep and detailed backstories. An unbelievably good story. A must read!

I just finished rereading it. I LOVE this book so much. It’s so hard to put this book down, once you start you’re hooked! The plot, the characters, the layers everything is so will written.
