The story was interesting, but I feel like A LOT happened for just 30 pages.

For a quick read, this was chilling! A “good for her” type of ending I can stand behind despite the story not being fully developed. It was harrowing, gory, and just a really good time!

i'd heard great things about this so i was expecting more but the writing left a lot to be desired.

The story starts off with a warning and I feel I should do the same. This does include depictions of domestic violence.

WHAT A FUCKING RIDE!
I've read a lot of books/stories that try their hand at abuse and and toxic relationships that try their hardest to be truthful and it's a hard deal. Not all can do it.
Zin creates a main character who is strong, she's got wit, she can hold her own. There's the air that she can whoop my ass if crossed. But she's stuck. She's stuck with this abusive man who she can beat if she wanted to, but he's got his hold. And it's tragic.
The way Zin narrates with a flowing description from one incident to the next is equal parts poetic and true to the main character.
The fact that it's a short story and everything is told so smoothly really shows off the talent and I intend to look into more of her work. While yes this could probably be made into a novel, I think it works best as it is. Giving us all the beats and full fledged woman to life.
