Many exciting things in this volume. For one, my favourite minor character from the anime has finally appeared in the manhwa - Min Byung-gu! Unfortunately though, he's made an appearance only to head back to the site of his trauma, Jeju Island. I also think the anime added some short scenes to show him struggling with the decision, which is good. Here, he just changes his mind off-page.

Quite apart from my bias, I like that a character like Byung-gu is included in the overall cast. It acknowledges that even though most of the S-rank hunters seem fearless in how powerful they are, they're still human, and not all of them are suited to the hunter lifestyle.

The demon Esil glitching out and being forced to terminate the conversation when Sung Jinwoo asks too many questions - yes, keep foreshadowing about the system, I love it. I also like her as a character: how shameless and straightforward she is, and also her dynamic with Jinwoo, who mentally classifies her in the same "dork" category he puts Yoo Jinho. Jinwoo seems oblivious to people being star-struck by him or crushing on him; it's great.

I always like the touches of personality given to the shadows, so I found it cute when Iron helpfully dragged over the wyvern's body so Jinwoo could extract its shadow (incidentally: so cool). I'm also very proud of Igris for advancing to the rank of Elite Knight, making him as strong as an S-rank hunter. I think that isn't explicitly highlighted in the anime, so I like that the manhwa draws more attention to such gamified mechanics.

More anime and manhwa comparisons - in my opinion, the anime does a better job with the scene where Jinwoo wakes his mother up, but on the other hand, the manhwa does a better job making Jinwoo's not joining the Jeju Island raid because he needs to be there for his mother, seem valid. That's because it brings in the whole thing about his mother having never stopped waiting for his father to come back.

The sparring session between the Japanese and Korean S-rank hunters is a good way of showing their different abilities and personalities. Of course, it only sharpens the sheer sudden violence later...

4 stars - It was really good

This volume continues Jinwoo’s battle in the dungeon. He is slowly making his way to the 100th floor and killing all the demon clans in between. The final battle with the demon king was action packed and a bit of a challenge for Jinwoo, which I liked. The shadow created from this battle was cool and I wonder how it will come into play in future battles.

Afterwards the Jeju ARC begins. While its expected that Jinwoo will help with the battle, he actually declines because of family reasons. On Jeju the Japanese team is working as a distraction while the Korean team heads into the tunnels to kill the queen ant. It has been an action packed and fascinating fight so far. We finally get to see Baek’s full beast form, which was cool.

I enjoyed this volume even though it was a bit disjointed because of the two different arcs being in one volume. I am very interested in seeing how the Jeju island arc ends.
