I was expecting to like these stories a lot more than I did. I mean, I'm Swedish, I like good stories, I'm a fan of kids' stories and fairy tales, and I have no problem reading older writing styles. But they just didn't move me. Mostly, I found them boring. Perhaps, as a child, I would have appreciated them more, but there are plenty of contemporary children's books that I love, and while some of the imagery is memorable, this collection is somewhere between just OK and likable.
