i love this book and emily henry you are a godess.
this book is a rivals(academic to be specific) to lovers arc so yeah duh I'm invested! the mc are both writers who are stuck in a writing block, so they make a bet to write the genre the other person writes abt and this bet includes making them explore and understand their genre. i just loved how the author expressed both their opinions and emotions so vulnerably and honestly.
january andrews - i could not relate to the character but i understood her.i was immensely consumed by how the complexity of her thoughts were written and how raw they were. she was deep and her character development or journey was least to say significant!
gus everett- we always love ourselves a grumpy man, he was intelligent, smart, and lemme just say he totally had my attention . I'm telling u I am not a keen fan of sci-fi books but I would have read his book! DEFINITELY a 100% guarantee.
gus & january - their relationship was beautiful & impactful! the bantering between those two *mind-blowing* and how gus&january both helped each other overcome their fears was another thing I loved abt this book! and GUYS wait for it IT ALSO HAS A RAIN SCENE YES IK IK CHEF'S KISS I'm internally screaming. their relationship is one i cherish to have myself and also both of them being authors having such beautiful brains took me away.
i overall loved this book and would surely recommend you to read it!!

I was a little wary of the "girl is attracted to and fixes man with past trauma" trope threatening to blossom as I made my way through it, but this novel won me over with the protagonist's lush story of grief and her growth, the theme of writers' block, and how impeccably Gus and January's paradoxes are woven together. No spoilers for those who haven't read it (you should go do something about that), but when January finally discovers what her father left, I was simultaneously punched and caressed right in the feels and cried, yes cried, out of the fictional but powerful love I was feeling coming off the pages. SO GOOD.

Oh boy, Emily pulled out all the stops to get the waterworks going.
My heart is being held by Gus Everett and January Andrewsnow Everett 🥹 and I couldn’t be happier. I did not expect to cry as much as I did but I love crying and the fact that this book could pull that emotion out of me is an immediate 5 stars. A romance book staple.
