304 delightful pages of a woman’s unraveling. the pace was slow and a sometimes felt deeply confusing, but i think that was intended. i wanted more about the son, Jonathan. sometimes it felt overly confusing and fever-dream like with not enough reality check-ins to have the reader feel cared for. very uncertain of time period? i find myself with so many questions about her mental health, and childhood experiences. it just felt like there were some holes. but the writing style worked for me - haunting and detail rich. can definitely see it working well as a streaming service original series

Although a well written, unnerving book - it's not really for me. I found that there was too much constant body shaming and found the book overall to be just terribly sad and uncomfortable. I wanted there to be more hope within the novel but the whole tone is morose.

However for those who love psychological thrillers that offer up an 'unhinged' female character and nauseating white middle class society interspersed with a mysterious air- this might be for you.

Looking solely at the dust jacket blurb for Mrs. March, I thought it was more of a modern murder mystery story. (I bought it on sale at B&N and told my mom she could read it after me because it seemed up her alley too—I retracted that offer!)

While I personally have found I’m not crazy about psychological thrillers like this, I can appreciate that it is well written.

However, the third person narration left me wanting more…

I would have liked to have heard more from other characters’ perspectives, specifically the experiences they were having alongside Mrs. March, especially people like Martha or the upstairs neighbor.

Overall, it was a solid read. Not one I’ll revisit, but not one that will slip out of my memory anytime soon.

A very slow process to find out what we all suspected in the beginning:
Mrs. March is unhinged, and George ain’t shit.
