Great installment in the series - a little bit creepy, but still good. I loved Shane and Claire's relationships in this book - even in difficulties they didn't torture each other like Michael and Eve.

Yet again, Rachel Caine has had me go through so many different emotions in just one book. I honestly envy her that talent!
Not wanting to give anything away, but I cried, I laughed (the banter was top notch as usual)and I got angry... in fact, I couldn't believe what some of the characters were doing. I wanted to punch a couple of them more than once.
I really can't wait for book 13 (out of 15) to be released already....

just announced by Rachel:

In case you didn't hear the news yet: THERE WILL BE THREE MORE MORGANVILLE NOVELS after Book 12, bringing the total for the series to 15 books! I don't know titles yet, but will be able to share some by the end of the year. I just posted the cover for BLACK DAWN, book 12. - Rachel

AND COVER IS RELEASED~! LOVE IT<3

----------------------------------------------------------

Took me absolutely forever to finish this book. Mainly because it's summer and I didn't have the huge urge to read and because the beginning was hard to get into.

Black Dawn start where Last Breath left off. Morganville is under total chaos with Magnus and his draugs. Things are in total hell.

One thing that so different about Black Dawn is that the hilarious humor that is in the previous books, isn't here really. Sure they have their witty banter here and there, but the hilarious humor isn't here. Well considering how things are for the gang, I can get why.

I really liked the changing POV's, though there were A LOT. I think Caine pulled off the different POV's than L.A. Weatherly. But, oh my god, Shane's POV was so sad
Now that the tables are turning and things are getting dangerous, how will Claire and the gang survive the next 3 books?! Hopefully the next book will be a much faster read and have the umph like the previous Morganville Vampire books!

Emotionally I want to give this a 3. But it wasn’t bad, I just didn’t like most of the decisions made at the end. Which probably adds to the story, I just don’t like it.

Well we didn’t get a gay after all. Wasn’t real clear, perhaps asexual?

While this was intense and scary and we lost some good ones and almost lost several other good ones, in the end terrible decisions were made and I think real cruelty is about to reign. Which is fucking stupid because of how many humans helped. Though really… it seemed they managed, in the end, with so few people including camps. Idk.

The writing was still good, the build up to tense situations was creepy and good, the characters good, we got additional POVs though if you didn’t see the names on the chapter headings you couldn’t always tell it had switched. I’m super disappointed in Amelie. And Naomi still out there to cause chaos. I’m not gonna lie I’m just ready to have this series finished lol. Which probably means I’ll love the next one bc it seems to switch up every other book or so.

*contains spoilers if you haven't read the previous books*

After the ending we were left with in Last Breath, the fate of Morganville was left in shambles. The Founder has been bitten and is now near death. The Draug are getting stronger and much bolder in their attacks against humans and vampires. When you start the first page of Black Dawn, we are picking up where the previous book left off. Now the town is dealing with the aftermath of the rescue mission and it is not going well.

Told from multiple point of views again, the reader gets to glimpse inside their favorite Morganville characters. (except Myrnin -- and I am very disappointed we haven't got to read from his POV yet!) Together, Shane, Claire, Eve, Michael and the vampires must find a way to save their Founder and bring down the Draug once and for all. What the reader gets is romance, drama, death and the beginning to a new chapter in Morganville with a set of new rules to come. Yes, we even get a cliffhanger ending that makes you want the next book right now.

I cried with the death of great character again, -- oh, how Ms. Caine loves to hurt the readers this way -- and the painful aftermath of a Draug capture to another beloved character. It was heart wrenching, nail biting, and oh so good. Of course, Morganville wouldn't be the same without Myrnin. I admit it. Myrnin is my favorite character by far because he is so crazy he is smart. I love how Myrnin can be indifferent one moment, and caring the next with Claire. I seriously want a Myrnin of my own to work with.

While Black Dawn still didn't surpass Last Breath or Carpe Corpus as my favorite in the series, it is by far the best in plot. It brings everything to the front and makes the reader wonder what will happen now. If you haven't bought your copy of Black Dawn yet, you are seriously missing out on one of the best books in the series. I can't wait for what is to come for Morganville next.

Morganville Vampires is one of the few series that I can say I consistently read, and the last few books have been getting better and better. I love the world Rachel has created and how each characters has their own distinct personality.

Black Dawn has to be my favourite of the series so far. I was constantly guessing what would happen next and sat at the edge of my seat while reading. I really like how each character is coming into their own even more, which we get to see more of with alternating chapters from a few of our favourite characters: Claire, Eve, Shane, Michael, Oliver and Naomi to name a few. I especially love how Claire has finally grown a back bone, and although she does stand up for what she believes is right in previous books, Black Dawn shows us Claire who is willing to fight Vampires in order to keep her friends safe, and openly admits a threat of violence to Mrynin and stands up to Monica in a great way.

Eve is even more of a bad ass and I think she has to be my favourite female character in this series. She has always openly admitted her feeling about the vampires but now we get to see her in a different light, and after previous events in Last Breath, she is dealing with issues in the only way she knows, hunting down vamps to kill them.

I will admit that Shane was put into my bad books in Last Breath, but in Black Dawn he shows his true colours whether he wants to or not, and after everything he goes through in this book I have now moved him to the top of the list of people I like. He more than makes up for his previous mistakes which I wont go into detail about for those who have yet to read this books, I do have to say he has the best one liners.
Shane to Michael

'Bro,' he said in an injured tone, 'I had to go out with a flamethrower, and you weren't there to see it.'
'Pics or it didn't happen.'
'Dude, little busy for pics. You know, throwing flame.'

We get to see a few familiar faces in Black Dawn, both Miranda and Jason make an appearance and each one plays their part for the best, again you will have to read to find out what I am going on about. The ending has me wanting the next book now and I am impatiently but eagerly awaiting the next instalment later this year.

As always, you are sucked into the world of Morganville from the very first page and is impossible to put down!
