This doesn’t really stand out??? And I’m not even sure why.

The story overall is pretty promising. It’s paced really well, especially for mangas of this type. The narration ruins it though, since it gives it a “meh” tone throughout.

The major downside of this book was the entire situation surrounding the female character.
- First of all, she’s the only girl.
- Secondly, she’s objectified SO MUCH. It’s so gross. This is most of the issue.
- Third, she isn’t given a chance to be awesome. She seemed pretty cool but then the spotlight was like “yeah, anyways...”.

I liked the rest of the characters. They were pretty cool. (Not that I’m saying she isn’t, we just haven’t been shown that.) I liked how the main character Staz was an otaku and the portrayal was actually done well. That was the major impressive part.

This is going to be a short review as I already wrote a long review when I first read this omnibus. This was such a fun re-read and I am glad I picked it for this year's Halloween month. We get to meet Staz and the gang again. I loved meeting the guys again and see Fuyumi and Bell. There is action, humour, tons of demons and items to find. It was just too much fun and I flew through the book. It's been some time since I read this series so while a lot is familiar or I knew a few things that would happen, quite a few things are in the dark for me so I cannot wait to see those events unfold. Like what is up with Fuyumi. Or the whole deal with Staz's brother.
The art is just fabulous though I think it is hilarious how Fuyumi's boobs go from big to medium-sized to big again.

This book sounded pretty funny to me but I was worried it might turn out to be a bit gory but it isn't too bad. I was pleastly suprised. Kept me giggling and intrigued the whole time.

Being a vampire is a lot of work.

Which, explains why Staz would rather not do…. anything. Despite hailing from an esteemed bloodline of vampires and being a respected district boss in the demon realm, he’s really not into the whole vampires thing. Rather, he’s obsessed with human culture, particularly Japanese culture. We’d call him a weeb??

When a young Japanese girl wanders into the demon realm, Staz jumps at the opportunity to meet her! He has so many questions!

Unfortunately, Fuyumi quickly finds herself the victim of another demon — she loses her human body and becomes a ghost. Her soul is intact, though, and could, reasonably, be returned to her body — if they could find it.

Now, Staz has vowed to help Fuyumi get her body back and return her to her life — especially if he can tag along to the human world!

So, this is a super fun manga, especially for readers who enjoy horror and stories that incorporate horror motifs. This reads as kind of a parody of horror — which sounds awful because there have been so many poor parody adaptations, but this isn’t bad! It has some moments that just seem “immature” at points — we’ve got a young male protagonist who’s essentially an otaku and a Japanese school girl thrown together here — but, overall, I think this is an entertaining story. It’s something fun to pass the time with~

I watched the anime before I ended up getting around to reading the manga, and I have to say they do a pretty good job of cloning the manga. What's covered in this volume doesn't go as far as the anime, so everything was very familiar to me. While it's a series that isn't nearly as cringe as some of the others I've tried to read or watch over the years, it's still an extremely heterosexual and melodramatic story arc. I do enjoy Staz as a character, but I don't much care for pretty much any other character, and some of the plot events are just a bit too silly for me. Not a bad series by any means, just not a storyline that inherently holds my interest.
