Vivid storytelling from Geovani Martins, definitely opened my eyes to the experience of living in a favela. Each story was short and engaging but the endings of many left me questioning too much.

Excelente!

Thank you to Geovani Martins Farrar, Straus and Giroux and Goodread Giveaways for a chance to read The Sun on My Head.
A compilation of 13 stories about life in the favelas of Rio de Janerio. An apparent authentic look at the football, drugs, guns, sex and poverty that are daily life. An interesting read, I only wish the stories had interrelated more and provided less ambiguous endings.

These short stories take a look at life in the favelas in Brazil. Fast paced and has you by a hook, not wanting to let go. Some of the stories I also didn’t want to let go of. Others I could t fully invest in.
Charming and hopeful in parts while dark and tense in others. An enjoyable read…
