This is definitely a 4.5 star book. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It had a good amount of suspense, tad bit of romance and a lot of mystery. Would definitely recommend. It’s written from two different points of view and two different years.

“The Sun Down only looked empty. But it wasn’t.”

“Some of us like the dark. It’s what we know.”

“I told you the motel was haunted.”

This was my first Simone St. James book and it definitely will not be my last. The Sun Down Motel was expertly plotted and chocked full of mystery and creepiness. All of the characters were fleshed out nicely and the author definitely makes you wonder who you can trust and who you cannot.

I love it, too, when a building or a setting is like a character in itself. The Sun Down Motel is definitely like a character and a creepy one at that. I loved that the author never went over the top with the haunts at the motel but always kept it subtle and at a distance. And Simone St. James does a perfect job with descriptions and sounds and smells so that all your senses come alive while reading this book.

This is probably one of my favorite books I have read in 2021 (and book #100 for the year!!). There was an awesome mystery that keeps you guessing and providing plenty of twists and there was the perfect amount of spookiness and supernatural elements for October. Definitely an amazing mystery horror novel. And like I said before, I will definitely be reading more books by Simone St. James.
