The ending felt a bit rushed, since there were so many plot lines that needed to come together all at once. But I was riveted throughout most of the book and was rooting for Viv and Carly!
Soooo creepy! I had to stop reading because it genuinely gave me chills. I’m glad that it turned out the way it did and I liked the ending.

Another spooky, atmospheric mystery/thriller by one of my favorite authors in the genre. The sense of foreboding & the creep factor of the motel are superbly developed. It did bug me, though, that the sign repeatedly was described as blue & yellow, but the cover shows a red & yellow lit sign.
Dual timelines: 2017 Carly & 1982 Viv (Carly’s aunt she never met, who oddly disappeared after working as the front desk clerk at the seedy roadside motel in Fell NY) In the present, Carly follows the exact same path (right down to the job) to practice her true crime sleuthing interests & her family mystery.
The traveling salesman gave quintessential horror movie vibes, with his sociopathic behavior & image. Perfect Fall/Halloween read, complete with ghosts.
A few minor issues: almost too similar storylines, motivations felt unjustified for the risks, & just not as seamlessly written as The Broken Girls- my top read by the author.

Another great book of this author, many twists and turns and an outcome you didn’t see coming. I hope she writes more books like this.

so many good things about this book but I feel like I need to highlight the fact that the love interest didn't turn out to be the bad guy like a cliche.
The best book I have ever read! I expected the ending but was also very surprised at the fine details. It was just enough of a thriller that I had goosebumps but could still fall asleep. Lol 10/10
