While some passages were beautifully written, the novel was far too long and the feminism was heavy-handed at times. It didn’t help that Melina’s character was remarkably unlikeable. She had a wonderful and safe support system (unlike her counterpart Emilia) but actively made self-destructive choices then hid behind misogyny.

This will probably be my favorite book of 2025, and it's absolutely my favorite book by Jodi Picoult. This book pulls in all emotions and illustrates what it is to be a woman.
She also challenges the idea that Shakespeare wrote his plays. I've heard this idea before, but when the idea is wrapped up in a well researched historical fiction... now it has my attention.
