Not many books bring tears to my eyes, but this one did. Even if Emelia isn’t Shakespeare, she still had a tragic life, constantly filled with loss. It’s not until her death that she gets a happy ending.

What a powerful story! Really well written, well researched. Might just be Picoult's best (so far).

3.5 ⭐️

Well researched, but a bit too long. I also wish some of the conclusions about bias were left for the reader to discover instead of being declared through a character’s speech. Telling instead of showing takes away the crucial learning piece from the reader.
