Loved Alpha because it was hot & intense. This one was intense but on a whole different level. More suspense & a leave you hanging ending. If I don't read the next book, Omega, asap the characters might do something I miss. ;)

Beta is bold, brilliant, bruising, and breathtaking. More than just a sequel, Beta is an edgy, original read that shatters expectations, pushes boundaries, and simply blows your mind.

I was not expecting this book. When I learned that Jasinda Wilder was releasing a sequel to Alpha, I just thought that it would be Alpha 2.0, another erotic romance with fairy tale elements. Well, it’s as if Jasinda read my mind, said “Fuck you, and your expectations!” — then proceeded to slay all my preconceived notions about what this story is about and who these characters are.

Let me begin by stating that Alpha wasn’t my favorite Jasinda Wilder book. You can read my review to get the full break down of why I didn’t absolutely love it, but it basically comes down to the fact that I wanted more. I wanted more back story, I wanted more layers, and I wanted more truth from these characters. I loved the scorching, hot sex scenes, but they alone couldn’t satisfy me. Now, Beta was everything that I wanted. Overflowing with action, sex, angst, drama, suspense, and terror, this story kept me on the precipice until the very last page.

What was it that I loved so much about this story? I loved the fact that Jasinda flipped the script. As it states in the blurb, the story picks up where Alpha left off; Roth and Kyrie are exploring the world, boning in exotic locales, and living the ultra lavish, hedonistic lifestyle. Then Roth is kidnapped. THE ALPHA is kidnapped! Whaaatt?? It’s now up to Kyrie to save her man. I. Loved. That. Kyrie doesn’t instantly become some femme fatale, badass; in fact, she stumbles a lot, and needs help, but the point is, she isn’t the one who needs saving. In a complete twist of the story that we read in Alpha, Jasinda Wilder showcases different dimensions of Kyrie and Roth, and turns the damsel in distress trope on its head. In order to save their love, both Kyrie and Roth are pushed to the limits, and have to fight – fight hard – to keep what they have from being destroyed. Their love is tested and you really get to see how committed they are to each other.

Beta has all the erotic elements that Alpha had (I mean, it’s Jasinda Wilder after all), but there’s emotional depth to the story that’s evident as we see a vulnerability in Roth that we never saw in Alpha. Both Kyrie and Roth are emotionally exposed in this one, but seeing Roth – ‘I own you’, ‘you belong to me’ Roth – lose control and in powerless situations does something to a girl. To me, that just makes him even hotter. This is Jasinda’s most edgy and risqué plot to date. I will say that it’s dark, but don’t be scared. Trust me. Hummingbird would never lead you astray. This is dark and daring that’s dealt with beautifully. At the heart of the story are two characters who love each other, and it is a romance. Will there be moments that may push you out of your comfort zone? Yes. But it’s all worth it to experience the brilliance that is Beta. Read it!

Beta... WOW.. it took me WAAAAAAAAY out of my comfort zone, but I was so pleasantly surprised that I loved every action packed second of this book. This is not your average romance with a scorned lover. This book was a roller coaster ride. Filled with guns, violence, passion and so much gut wrenching emotional pain. Valentine and Kyrie both suffer so much in this book. There was a point where I thought they might really be broken, but watching them fight for their love was enough to bring tears to my eyes. This book was even better than the first and I cant wait to see them kick ass and take names in the third. (There BETTER be a third!!!)

Holy crap how did we get from a straight up erotica book that was everything 50 Shades should have been but wasn't to the Taken franchise from one book to the other? The transition was jarring but I rode it out. So looks like I will have to read the third book to see how it all ends up.

SpoilerIs it too much to hope that Harris and Layla find love in each in the third book? Or should I just be happy if everyone survives the third book?

OMG OMG OMG...the ending was everything. I can't wait to read Omega.

Loved the book, hated the ending...So glad there was another in the series. I loved that Haris was able to offer more support than just driving Valentine around, and I love that Kyrie kicked ass in this. Although this book and this series is sooooo good, it had much of the same plot points of another series that came out about this time....not going to say who, but if you read it, you know. That's not to say I am pointing fingers, but it's like the universe manages to give the same basic ideas to different people about the same time. Great minds think alike and all.
