Delightful! Published posthumously, this final installment is a wonderful ending to the story of Juniper & Wise Child. I am happy to finally add this copy to my shelves besides its prequels - two of my favorite childhood stories.
It's wonderful that Monica Furlong has written 3 books about our beloved dorans.
After book 2 I had an urge to know what would happen to the travelers. Now that we know, I of course have a new urge to know what would happen to Colman. Will he choose the path of becoming a doran?
But ales we will never know.... Thank you Monica for giving me the change to have read these fine books! <3

It's not the book that Wise Child and Juniper were - it's fairly obvious it didn't make it through the rounds of revision that Furlong performed on those books - but I'm glad to know what happened after Juniper and her company left the white house, all the same. This book tackles the bigger enemies introduced in Juniper and looks at how the world can change if good people take risks to change it.
I liked this book all right, but "liked it" is all. It did not amaze me or keep me eagerly reading like the first two, but it was nice to know what happened to Juniper, Wise Child, Colman, and Finbar.

I read that Monica Furlong finished this book right before she died, so it missed out on a lot of re-writes and edits. It needed those re-writes and edits. The dialogue is not so hot, and the action is, well, it's action. I don't really want action in my Wise Child books. But still, it's nice to wrap up the story, and nice to see these characters again, even if they're not exactly as wonderful as they were in the other books.
