I would rate it 3.5 but I didn't like it enough to roll it up to 4. I started out enjoying it very much. I liked the writing style and the flawed characters but just past mid-way, it just felt like my interest was slipping away.

I'm not sure if it was my irritation with Pam or my growing bad mood but I found myself not wanting to read more of her introspection. I truly felt bad for what had happened in her previous relationship - my heart broke for her - but there was just something going on with me or the book that wouldn't allow me to continue to feel bad after she realized what was happening between her and Mel.

That being said, I would recommend Sea Glass Inn to anyone looking for a romance with a high angst rating.

A wonderful romance about starting all over again in middle age. Newly divorced and free to live openly as a lesbian, Melinda "Mel" Andrews takes refuge in the seaside town of Cannon Beach Oregon. Determination, tenacity, and an open heart characterize Mel's attempts at finding love and fulfillment. Local artist Pamela "Pam" Whitford is still reeling from heartache inflicted several years prior. Despite her attempts to close herself off from commitment with other women, she finds herself drawn to the newcomer. Karis Walsh creates an affirming love story in which relatable women face uncertainty and new beginnings, with all of their promise and shortcomings, and come out whole on the other side.

Some of the language, especially in the first half, came off as very pretentious. I kept rolling my eyes. Very well edited. Had some issues with the drama, but it was okay. Really a 3.5 rounded up for me. My mind kept wandering so it took me longer than usual to read. Not sure if that was me or the book.

This novel was a pleasure to read, Walsh paints us a story of love, deviotion and understanding. The journey within the story is wrote to be believable and convincing.

The growth and development of the characters is amazing, as Walsh paints the story we gradually become to understand each of them and their emotions which kept me captivated. Within the characters development came the development within their roles in the book, the artist and restoring the old house, it was beautiful to see their talents grow.

I simply couldn't put this book down, page for page I was hooked, wanting to find out what happened in the end would they find love with each other?

This is the 3rd book I've read by this author and by far my favorite! It flowed well and I really felt connected to both the place and the characters. Their romance was believable and I could see them growing old together. The one downside to this novel is that the cover is kind of terrifying.

Not a bad story; in my house we call it "old people love" which is just a poorly worded euphemism for "trepidation when it comes to romance as a result from past failures." Which can be sweet, when done right. This wasn't done wrong, but there was really no angst, no worry. Just a kind of bland denial until they were tired of denying themselves. No real issue, which is refreshing, but also kind of boring. Almost too much introspection. Overall, just kind of an "eh" read. Nice if you want an f/f romance, though. 2.5/5

This was an enjoyable, easy read. I knew what the ending was going to be but that was not a bad thing. I liked that Mel took charge of her life and didn’t let anything stop her. I loved the descriptions of the Oregon coast and the process of creating a painting.
