Ugh. I'm getting tired of the Kenyon character tropes. Medea and Falcyn are like every other female and male character in the previous few books. Exactly. Like. They might have a few superficial details differing, but otherwise each is overly supportive and shares the same tone as every... other... character. Ugh.

(2.5 starts) Just meh.

I wanted to try to get back into the series after such a huge disappointment with the last book. Though this one is slightly better, it still feels like the entire plot of the series has been lost. Too many crossovers to not feel lost and I don’t want to keep starting a new series just to try to make sense of this one. Unfortunately I will have to put the reminder of the series on the do not read list. I sad as I loved this series so much.

What to say about Dragonsworn? I loved it from start to finish. There are so many questions running through my head right now, I need to assimilate it all. I just wish the next book was so far away.

*I listen to audiobooks while I workout so note taking is impossible, thereby Down & Dirty Quickie Reviews are impossible. Instead, here are some words.*

Sherri's worlds are ALWAYS cracktastic, & her peeps always got the sass. But these days there's, and with this book in particular, so much happening plot wise that the OTP's emotional story feels rushed & the romance smacks of insta-love. The pacing is set to 382622 miles per hour, so all the emotionally grounded scenes feel shoved in between the epic fights & realm hopping.

DISAPPOINTED doesn't even come close to how I am feeling about this book... I thought it was going to be Illarion's story.... but that didn't seem to happen. It was eclipsed by everything else going on in the book. It honestly didn't feel like a complete story. I found myself going... "wait, what?" The downfall for me really came when she started a chapter.. "six months later." And then an event that probably should have had more feeling to it was just sort of thrown on the page in 3-4 sentences! WTF...? I kept flipping back to see if I had missed something! Overall, the book seemed rushed! She did't take the time for full character development or telling the main story... not letting the readers get attached to the two characters that were supposed to be the main characters. This is the first Sherrilyn Kenyon book that I have been totally disappointed in, and it makes me even more upset that I went to a CON and waited in line to buy this book and have her sign it.

3.5 stars.

Once again, I could not care less about the characters nor the setting, tbh. I haven't read the Lords of Avalon, so most of the references to that series and a lot of context were lost on me. Also, I'm quite tired of all Kenyon characters being so sassy and quirky and ingenious when it comes to replies and sarcasm; I swear if you took away the names I could not tell them apart. I know it sounds weird to say that it's not realistic when you have dragons and gods and Camelot in the book, but honestly, everybody speaks the same way.

However, I still ended up enjoying this book, it further expands the mythology of the series and it gives a couple of info bombs that are certainly important for the future. Although the main couple do not feel the real focus of the story, you end up rooting for them. Medea is a very interesting character, although I feel Kenyon totally wasted an opportunity here. More so with Falcyn. I feel like she's been trying to tie-up loose knots and delve into the mythology by totally forgetting to develop her characters. But we can't have everything. I'm honestly happy to see that this book is at least better than the last two books. I'm regaining my faith on Sherrilyn.

If you've read and enjoyed Lords of Avalon or you enjoy dragons and Arthurian myths, then go for it.

It was really good, and besides my fair obsession with Dragons and heroes that had been hurt in the past(sorry I’m a seeker for those) it was a great and well developed story, I’m not a fan of almost instant love, so Falcys and Medea’s is not the best love story in my books.
This book was so full of easter eggs and information about my beloved Og characters that I can’t wait to read Stygian.
Overall an amazing book.

I've LOVED the introduction of the dragons and their stories. I think Falcyn's was my favorite, but also felt the most rushed at the end. I also feel like pieces are starting to fall into place along the story line. I'm excited to see what happens next.

This took me FOREVER to finish because she just kept bring in character after character, and I was getting frustrated while trying to remember who everyone was and how they were all connected. I need a friggin' map to figure out the whole thing with Falcyn, Maddor (sp?), Blaise, and all the foster parents/who did and did not know who was who's parent, etc.

There will be a for-real review on Romance Reviews Today in October 2017.

Easy 5 stars. This is definitely one of Sherrilyn Kenyon's best books in the Dark-Hunter series.
