3.5 stars but I’m rounding up because the ending got me a little misty eyed.

I didn’t see the big twist coming, but it wasn’t as exciting as it was built up to be to me. Some details were repeated often so the clues felt a bit in your face, so once everything was revealed it felt almost too obvious.
Overall, I loved the plot and feeling of being trapped on the island with the tides. I would really like to visit seaglass house and I couldn’t put the book down

I liked this one pretty good.
Huge spoiler down below.
I clocked the major plot twist on page 90. I read a line and it hit me like a ton of bricks.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s a atmospheric locked room style whodunnit in the vein of Agatha Christie, who even gets a shout out. I knocked off one star because unfortunately I did guess the ending pretty early on, but that’s not necessarily out of norm for me. The path to the reveal was still enjoyable, in my opinion.

Alice Feeney knows how to write a thriller - mercy! I was honestly terrified while reading. Well done!

Wonderful locked room, isolated island diminishing victim mystery story. Set in Cornish England but truly feel like New England, maybe Maine to me. Some lovely quirky characters and heart-stopping plot moves made me skip some time at work to finish it.

a tad boring and melodramatic … until it wasn’t! the climax/finale really saved it for me and I actually ended up going back to reread some of it!
a fun thriller with a handful of twists, this was an easy first book for 2023.
