My bookish friend loan me this book because she knows I am big on Caribbean books and authors. I was happy to read a collection by an author who was not on my radar.

Now, After is a collection of essays set in New York and Trinidad and Tobago. It's got a very distinct voice. Some of the stories fell a little flat for me, but the ones that I loved, I really loved! I particularly loved the one called "Joyce's One Boy Child on the Seventh Day" it was so well done!

If you are looking for a short collection that gives insight into the Trini experience, this might be it.
