Beatrice & Benedict meets Bertram Wooster - delightful, witty, I will be reading more from Jane Austen. Even the sad bits leave you smiling.

After trying to read this book ages ago, and not being able to, this time I persevered and finished it. Emma is still my least favorite jane Austen novel. Knightley is insufferable, Emma’s dad toxic. No wonder she’d married a guy who’s basically dad number two. Anyway. Not my favorite.

I enjoyed reading this, even though in romance books I actually like to see more tension or more furtive looks or touches between the lovers or something a little bit more scandalous or drama this book was overall really good.
It was a surprise how unlovable the main character Emma was. She thought herself so superior to everyone else and belittled the working class. She even felt entitled to tell her friend who she should and should not marry and almost made her lose her lover and happiness. But I really liked to hate on Emma lmao.
For me it was really clear from page 1 that the love interest was Mr. Knightley because he talked to highly of her and was the only person who could tell her when she was in the wrong. And the love confession AHHHHH: "if I loved you less I would be able to talk about it more" exquisite.

So the story is decent but my god did this drag. Also the whole I’ve liked you since you were 13 thing 😬
Deffo need to watch the film and will likely enjoy that more.
