Yeah, not thrilled by this one. Nice enough, took ages to get going, interesting enough characters. But it was missing something for me.

I enjoyed this book, it had enough to keep me readin including history of Quakers, the Underground Railway and quilting. One line really stood out to be in Chapter 18 when one character tells another to not run from their life as they have a life others fight to have. It makes you think about freedom a lot and how what you think might look good on the outside may not be and who is anyone to judge. The main character does continue to show kindness to all, within her own experiences, and I think that is what keeps you reading.

I felt the book could have been longer and had more detail, I was surprised at how quickly it all wound up and would have been happy reading more!

I really enjoyed this book. I couldn't stop reading it once I began. I thought it was great!

Historical fiction, lite. Chevalier details a life of a young Quaker pioneer girl coming to America. Did you know that when referring to corn knee high by the fourth of July means not to your standing knee but to the knee when sitting on a horse???? I learned something new and now you did too. The last runaway is a lot entertaining and a little enlightening, isn't this why we read??

I have never read much about either the Underground Railroad or Quakers but I love Tracy Chevalier's books. This was a great book, a quick read that I tore through in less than a week! Loved it and highly recommend it!

Such a wonderful book -- would recommend highly to those who like historical fiction.

This is one of my favorite books I've read in a long time. I loved the main character and the particular perspective she brought to mid-19th century Ohio. This was a fascinating look at the Underground Railroad both from Quakers in that time and place, and from an outsider. I loved it.

Read in one sitting on a very long bus ride. Honor is a pretty flat character. The romance(s) are forced and have no depth. The characters we're supposed to be on board with are revealed to never do anything wrong, stripping them entirely of their humanity. Just. Ugh. There was a lot of potential with the plot but it fell flat. Very anticlimactic.

Had a hard time putting this book down. Wanted to go back and finish. Wove a wonderful story of Quaker history in with American slavery and Underground Railroad.
