Unrequited teenage love. Yeah, there's definitely spark and fireworks and a fist flying. It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time is a wonderful story. Its sexy, sweet, and rips you apart in all the best ways your hopeless romantic self will enjoy.
Andi does an amazing job narrating, as usual.

It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time was a book I couldn't wait to read! I have read and enjoyed a lot of Kylie Scott's books and I am such a sucker for taboo stories, especially those with an older guy/younger girl.
I really loved Adele and Pete! I loved getting to see how things developed between them and getting to know them both. Their connection and chemistry was real and genuine and I believed in their relationship from the start.
Definitely one I'd recommend for fans of this trope and I can't wait to read it again!

HILARIOUS, HOT, AND HEARTWARMING! as usual, kylie scott does not disappoint! the writing was great! the characters were very fun! (i loVED SHANTI AND ADELE!) the dialogue—god, the banter between adele and pete was so so good! the romance was well-written, with the pacing, the chemistry, and the ya-knows. my heart was beating so fast at the last bit, and my stomach was clenching, and my hands were in actual fists because gdi i was swOONING! if you love romance, this is definitely a great read and so are kylie scott’s other stories!!

This is one of the better stories I have read where there is a significant age gap between the H and the h.
On the plus side, the characters were well fleshed out. On the down side, I couldn't see any chemistry between the couple and the plot device used to bring the couple together (pregnancy) is not my favourite.
The writing was good and kept me into the story. That counts for an extra 0.5 stars. So 3.5 in all.

I had vaguely seen It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time around before it came out, but it wasn’t until my friend messaged me freaking out about a teaser she had found for it that I learned that it was a forbidden father’s best friend romance and I was totally stoked to read it! And yeah, I’m aware that it’s been out for awhile, but waiting to crack open a book I’m really interested in is very on brand for me, so what can you do — nothing. Anyway, I actually started this at the beginning of the month, though I had to put it down to read other things which seemed like a total bummer at the time (I’m calling that a pun and it wasn’t originally intended, but then I made it so it would be intended because I love puns), but that turned out to be a good thing because I needed a forbidden romance set in summer, so it all worked out for the best.
I was happy to get back to it because I had really been enjoying the story and I wanted to see how everything would all play out. I did briefly consider setting it down again after I got to a certain point, but that was just me being finicky not because of the actual book. I told myself that I was finishing it seeing as how I needed that summer aspect and I’m glad that I stuck with it and didn’t let my moody self win because I really loved It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time! I wasn’t able to fully connect to the hero, but the heroine, Adele is fire — I loved her so much and she was just everything. She was amazing, the story was steamy, a little heartbreaking, but also so heartwarming — it was excellent!

By far my favourite book by Kylie, and that is saying something because I love her books. It was angst and funny and charming and just the right kind of suspense to keep you going.
Adele has been in love with Pete since she was sixteen. After a bad birthday party revealing a little too much to him, she is left dejected. Seven years later, with her dad getting married (to probably the best character in the book) Adele and a Pete are forced to face reality.
Shanti was my favourite character, she kicked ass and told things straight. Adele was amazing, the right kind of quirky to make you root for her. The internal monologues were amazing.
And then there was Pete. If you don’t like the idea of an older man, then you will after meeting him, hot and grouchy and all kids of sexy, he will make even a nun swoon!

Make up your MIND Pete. There’s supposed to be an age difference (younger woman/older man) but Adele was 100% more mature and honestly deserved better than this love interest. So maybe this is more of a 2.5
