Whoa. That one intrigued me. I snatched it up because it was free (yeah, greedy + cheap me, I know) and I raced through the whole thing, loving and hating at the same time. What a choice of main characters! Both equally attractive and equally repulsive. And yet... well. Good to know there's more, and good to know the whole thing can be bought as a complete set. Which I will do. It went straight to my must-have-list. Well-written, fast-paced but not rushed - this little snippet will leave you wanting more. It's an appetizer, but not such a cruel one that it makes you bite your nails in desperation. More like, mhm, more of this please. But let me roll it across my tongue once more to savour each and every nuance. Let me bask in its strange afterglow. Aaaaah. Okay. Now I'm ready to read the rest. Know what I mean?

I like :-)

A twisted story in episodes that I know I am going to love! This first episode introduced us to the main players. Jack, an ex-con who is not what he seems, and Sid, a lawyer who is working on the biggest case of his life, not realizing what he is getting himself into. I can't wait to see where this story leads!

This is difficult to rate.

The story is interesting, and the plot is great. I'm a huge fan of legal thrillers. That hit the spot.
I am also a fan of the anti-hero, and this has two. I love dark reads, this has that element to it. So I should be thrilled. For some reason I am not.

There is something really depressing about this story. I can't quite put my finger on it. I think it's the 'try-hard' mentality of Sid. He seems so lost. It's sad. And not in the gritty, raw, 'let me taste your sorrow' way. Just sad. And I don't particularly care why he's so sad. That bothers me.

I need to know more about Jack before I can form an opinion of him.

Otherwise this was engaging, and I really enjoy the plot set up. I will be continuing on with the series.
