A wonderful collection of essays, poetry, and musings by a diverse group of writers, bloggers, and creators who’ve lived their lives in bodies that are usually determined to be overweight.
There’s a great sense of empowerment and encouragement as the various contributions talk about living a full life without limitations and creating a place and purpose in this world. The contributors talk about the importance of recognizing how society in general finds it okay to laugh at and discriminate against obesity but there are ways fat people can influence a change in the way overweight gets a dignified representation.
It’s very heartening that there are so many different and necessary perspectives represented in this book. A variety of ethnicities, LGBTQA+, life experiences, and upbringings. I think when reading this book, most young people struggling with self-acceptance could find words they need to hear and maybe even someone to whom they can relate.
I listened to the audiobook and thought it was great to hear all the different voices telling their stories. Highly recommend!

I overall really enjoyed this book and think it would be a great gift especially for fat tweens and teens. Some stories and art resonated with me while others fell a bit flat but that’s to be expected given all the contributors to this book. The only thing I wish was it was organized instead of by contributor by topic so it would have been a bit easier to navigate the topics I liked and didn’t care for.

📖 The Other F Word: A Celebration of the Fat & Fierce edited by Angie Manfredi Book Review 📖
1st book of December 2022 and 29th and last of the year:
This was my last book of 2022, and it was a great way to finish off the year! It was such an amazing and important read that talks about the fatphobia in our world and society and how it impacts everyone, as well as how to love yourself just as you are and how to work through that fatphobia whether it’s internalized or externalized or both! The illustrations were beautiful, and there were so many beautiful voices and resources, and so much beautiful representation from fat rep to queer rep to rep for POC to disability rep and more! I highly recommend picking it up! TWs for fatphobia, bullying, body shaming, ableism, racism, homophobia, eating disorders, and cursing📖💛👑
