While Erin Morgenstern’s writing was great, the plot was not unfortunately. I went blind into this one, with a few recommendations, but was sadly disappointed that the plot didn’t pick up, and was left feeling empty after finishing the last page. First book in a while I’ve felt this disappointed

Can I just say I love everything about this book? It was a magical, dream-like experience reading this book. This book takes you to the thin layer between reality and dream where you are not sure if you would be happy or sad for what is happening! This book made me feel everything at once! Every single word of this book is so well picked and put in a queue to make the feeling as vibrant as it should be! You can't skip any word! Every single word in this book meant something and was trying to tell a story!
It is a character driven story and the plot reveals slowly as you progress through the book. It is quite difficult to understand the plot at once and you know the story only when you fully finish reading this! For some people it may take several reads to understand every single detail about this book but trust me this book is worth it! As the story is slow and takes time to fully understand what really is going on I can totally understand why some people don't like it! Let's be honest , this book is not for everyone but if you are patient enough to read the entire book I am sure you'll love this book!
Reviewing this book without revealing much about the story is a difficult task to do. So if you don't want to be spoilt or know much about the book, go read this book and then come back to read the review! 'cause you'll have a lot of question after reading the book and here my review starts_
.
.
.
The is a story of victorian nocturnal black and white circus and through the circus we are told the tale of love and choice and the shades of grey between black and white! "Le Cirque des Reves" or the circus of dreams is nothing like the circus you have seen before! Everything here is beyond your imagination, beyond your reach of logic to explain! There are a number of big tents and each tent has it's very own feature! You can see whatever you choose to see! In one tent if you find illusionist, in another you may find contortionist! where there are tents of fortune teller, there is also wishing tree! This black and white tent arrives without warning! When yesterday there wasn't anything, today you see tents with black and white stripes waiting for you with endless things to explore! The atmosphere, performances, tents are so vivid and vibrant! I could literally smell the foods! The richness of writing makes reading this book such a great experience!

The chapters and story jump between time and place! So, it may seem confusing sometimes and you'll find way too many characters to deal with but if you stick to this book , soon you'll realize there are actually two storyline going together- sometimes parallel, sometime ahead of the other one but always interconnected and complimenting, completing each other! The two story line come together only by the end of this book!
Using the circus as a backdrop this story is about two enchanter who are connected to each other by a challenge! They don't know the rules quite well, so we as reader also can't get to know much about it! Slowly when the mystery reveals we know this isn't the game of power or skill but of patience and how much one can endure! Destined to end this in the cruelest way possible, they must keep playing! This circus is a arena only to chose between choice and love, duty and passion! And in the game of choice, love, duty and passion it doesn't matter how capable you are, what matters is how hardly you want to do what is needed to be done!
As you see the circus and visit places from an observer's pov you don't come to know what's going on in the mind of characters! You feel distant to them and yet you are drawn towards them! Their secrecy, mystery attracts you to them just the way butterflies are attracted to fire! You want to know them better, your attraction make you love them! The two main characters Celia and Marco are just two flawed character destined to fight against each other, fall for one another so deeply! As child, Marco was abandoned by his teacher Alexander to learn by his own! and yet he is caring! Celia was brought up in a controlling and unloving environment! Brought up in two totally different atmosphere they are the exact same person-lonely, deprived of love! Wasn't it obvious for them to fall in love? Romance in this story is not a major part but it gives some major relationship goals! Some moments are to die for! They are so strong and yet such brutally broken that it is impossible to not love them!
They make mistakes and that's the beauty of this book! You believe them as real without getting too close, you feel for them, you cry in their pain even when they hide it with perfection!
One of the unique things about this book is there is no villain or bad guy here! All the characters are filled with their own flaw, graceful with every sort of emotions and made of their own mistakes! They do keep living but their desire to do something better makes them children of blood and flesh!
Isobel is one of the main characters and I don't want to reveal much about her! She is graceful with her own mistakes and flaws! Tsukiko, Chandresh, ethan , burgress sisters every one is beautifully real and human that it is hard to believe they are fictional! Celia and Marco's teacher Hector and Alexander are two beautifully created perfectly flawed character! You feel sorry for what happened to them but never hate them!
Bailey is such a beautiful character that shows us despite having choice the intention of doing right makes us a good person! The urge to do what is needed is what defines us! Popet and Widget are my favourite! They are adorable, lovely and everything that bring smile in my face!
There are also a group of people who introduce themselves as "dreamer" They write about circus, ship everything about it! And you will know one of them also!
Mostly filled with grey characters this books tells a tale of the most deepest feelings of human being-fear, love, envy, anger, loss, sad! Just like these emotions the circus also arrives without warning!
"The circus arrives without warning" the first and last line of this story! and only at the very end end you realize widget was telling you the story! He is the very observer or story teller who gives you bits and glimpse of this vast canvas! and what a beautiful way to end the story!
If you have read through this and been spoilt enough go read this and if you went to read the book as above mentioned let's discuss about this! :')
This will be in my forever favourite list :')
Go read and come discuss

This story is very lovingly crafted, and I enjoyed all the little nuances and details. The ending didn’t quite satisfy what it was building up to in my mind, but I do appreciate it for what it is, and that the loose ends were tied up quite neatly, in my opinion.

It was like reading a slow flowing river. Does it make sense? What I mean is even that there was no action in the book it was a peaceful read that took me to another place that I felt comfortable and didn't want to leave, I could have stayed there longer if it was possible. I caught myself smiling while reading, I don't remember when was the last time I did that, it was that peaceful, I felt so ease like nowhere else. I loved the separate tents and the snacks thet had in the circus. They were all like they were taken from a dream. I would love to visit a circus like that. Well, if you know one like that let me know, I'll pack my bags right away.
