I’m coming to understand that I simply love how Martha Wells writes, and especially how she writes characters. I’m a sucker for a character who just wants to be loved, and Moon is definitely high on that spectrum. This book is a beautiful exploration of finding a place to call your own, learning that you don’t need to fit in to belong, and allowing yourself to be loved.
I’m so glad I have so much Martha Wells to catch up on. I’m so grateful that I’ve got her whole backlist still to read. I can’t wait to get my hands on it all.

Excellent world/story building. I really enjoyed reading about Moon and Stone and all the characters and the story keeps moving along from one disaster to another. Some of the details were a bit much but a very rich story and love the sarcasm- as always- from the brain of the Murderbot author.

I enjoyed this book tremendously. In fact, it was the type of read that made me remember why I enjoyed reading so much in the first place; a real curl up somewhere warm and cozy with a glass of red type read that could only have been made more idyllic if it was pouring down with rain outside (Oh wait, I live in the UK so it was! Yay!)
The author is a great world builder and the world in question sucked me in completely. The characterization is well done too and whilst all the species, and I use that term deliberately, are far from being human it is still entirely possible to relate to them.
Moving on to the next book in the sequence which is rare for me and stands as testament to how much I enjoyed The Cloud Roads.

The world is pretty cool but the characters are all named after one syllable native nouns like wind, rain, moon, branch, jade, pearl etc and don't really have personalities. The main character is fertile and everyone is clinically horny for him.
