This story has everything you would ever need and want to look for. One billion starts, this book had given me laughs, tears, shocks, turns. It’s just amazing. The story is well written the characters are developed and beautiful very diverse. The story is unpredictable and that’s a lot coming from me. The overlapping and story overall is just beautiful. The suspense is amazing. I want to say this is my favorite in the series so far and probably my top book of all time now. Highly recommend can’t give it enough stars and words. Love love!

Ok. Good book. But didn’t wow me the way that ACOMAF did. I loved how it started, I live for the scheming and court drama. And I think the book had great pacing and overall the plot was gripping. But… at the end it just felt a bit shallow. Nothing was really gained or lost.
Everyone lives (miraculously) except the father you don’t really care about. All of these sort of random events conspire for the good guys to come out on top.
The Tamlin subplot was logical and emotionally interesting but wasn’t really explored. My other beef with this book is that
the revelation that Mor is gay
felt forced. Can’t she just..
not love him like he loves her? Why does she have to “prefer” females?
. Don’t get me wrong I love a
gay character to add to my representation roster
but it just felt like something Sarah J Maas came up with and then forced to happen, not something natural for the plot/characters. Overall, an enjoyable book worth reading. However, book 2 felt much more natural and realistic than this one.

I feel like the end of the book could have had more development time. There were lots of very big things happening and the stakes did not feel genuine and the consequences were lacking. But over all this book made me fall in love with so many side characters that it's almost obscene.

ACOWAR (especially during the final battle) was INSANE. So much drama and action with Amren, the Suriel, and even poor Rhys 😭 also absolutely OBSESSED with Nesta and Cassian, they’re my biggest couple goals in the book series so far <33

2024 reread:

Rating: 5/5 stars

This will never be my favorite of the series but it has some truly ICONIC moments and I thoroughly enjoyed the reread!

Original review (December 2022):

Rating: 5 stars

Feyre and the Night Court must create alliances and battle ancient magic to save Prythian.

As the third book in the series, there isn’t a ton I can say without a lot of recap and spoiling, so I’ll keep it short. This one was a tad long for me and didn’t have the impeccable sexual tension of ACOMAF, but it was nonetheless an absolutely phenomenal roller coaster ride the whole way.

CW: Blood/death/war/grief; kidnapping; misogyny/sexism; torture/violence; sexual assault; domestic violence/physical violence

Honestly, when I first started this series I wasn't sure I'd like it but I was happily proven wrong in the 2nd book. Waiting my turn to check out this book from the library was a nightmare but it was well worth it. I could hardly put it down as I wanted to learn more about the Court of Dreams and the little family that ran it. My concern for the characters and the dangers they were facing also spurred my desire to just devour this book.

I find the writing very easy to just fall into to, it just pulls me into the books world. The sex scenes seem a bit weird sometimes, I don't get some of the wording used. Google tells me that other people have the same opinion so its not an ace thing. The writing is solid when it comes to character voices, I feel like I can see each of their distinct personalities shinning through. The characters themselves are easy to fall in love with, and I've added a few others to my list of favorites. There are so many new characters that get introduced in this book that its a bit hard to keep track of them all.

Overall, it was a fun read and I'm glad I gave the series a chance.
