“I would have waited five hundred more years for you. A thousand years. And if this was all the time we were allowed to have...
The wait was worth it.”

When I finished ACOMAF, I was desperate to get my hands on this book. I called all FullyBooked (PH’s version of B&N) just to find a copy of this. All nearby branches were OOS, the only branches that have a copy of this were from the provinces. So I asked them to ship the books to me because I was desperate. Desperate to know what would happen to Feyre. Feyre who was a spy in the enemy’s land. Feyre who I dedicated tabs to how badass she is. Damn she was so bad ass in this book.

I was instantly hooked once the book started - with Feyre being the spy and how she’s going back to the Night Court. Compared to the other books in the series, I found this book slower in terms of pacing. Although, that’s mostly because it has the war element heavily added. It’s a great read especially if you’ve been like me who’s legit been eaten by the series. It has a lot of plot twists and revelations that had be gasping in real life. The fact that I’m so late with reading this book, I’m glad I wasn’t heavily spoiled. ACOWAR is legit a great book that I’m for sure would reread in the future (together with the other books in the series ofc). Also, I’m glad to see more of the Archeron sisters in this book especially Nesta because I really hated her previously. Plus!!! I almost forgot!!! The high lord meeting!!!! Ughhhhhhh

I just want to say, Suriel, you are the MVP. Always and forever.

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas was an incredible continuation of an already great series. It’s not often I dive right into a second 600+ page book immediately after finishing one, but I couldn’t resist. I loved the new characters that were introduced and the changing dynamics of those who we’ve met before. I was happy to finally meet the rest of the High Lords and I cannot wait to dive into the next book. This series truly has everything I love in books, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. The more I read of the ACOTAR series, the more I can see why this is such a fan favorite and beloved by so many fans of Maas. Each book sways me more and more towards ACOTAR being the superior series over TOG (but let’s be honest, they’re both amazing). I loved this book and if you’re a fan of fantasy, you will too, especially if you like a little spice thrown in.

Finished my second read through a year after finishing the series, and I cried again at the end. The SJM ending might have raised the rating for me as it is always so emotional and fast-paced! The politics is something I personally enjoy, and the IC is so lovable. SJM doing again what she does really well: character development and relationships, especially platonic ones. What keeps it from being perfect for me is just her sometimes lazy writing style and the really crappy smut scenes. I’m not against smut, but SJM really did not do it well in this series.

The third book in the ACOTAR series, A Court of Wings and Ruin resolves a lot of the major plotlines established in A Court of Mist and Fury. One of the longer books in the series, I was worried it would have a lot of extraneous filler. I found myself pleasantly surprised that I hardly ever felt that it was dragging on.

I felt like a lot of the war scenes were pretty well done, especially because a lot of romantasy writers tend to struggle in that regard...or they make it way too pretty. Mentioning the gore and the flies, well done, Sarah J. Maas. I will say that I wish Feyre had been involved more in these scenes, especially since she established in A Court of Mist and Fury that she can fight well, especially since
she killed the Attor
. It felt a bit like a wasted opportunity, but I understand that Feyre is considerably young compared to war-seasoned characters like Rhysand, Cassian, Azriel, and Mor.

The ending killed me and brought me back, and I guess
that's what happened to Rhysand too
. I was an absolute wreck when
Rhysand died pouring his power into fixing the Cauldron
, and then for a few chapters after too. I thought Sarah J. Maas had been mentioning how
Rhysand would rather give himself up than his friends or his people
for the whole book so that Rhysand and Feyre would work together when this sort of thing happened, but I was very wrong. Honestly, I was more surprised that
Tamlin actually helped bring Rhysand back to life
than
Rhysand being brought back to life
at all.

Overall, a well-done conclusion to a lot of established plotlines. I was already feeling depressed at the thought of leaving the world of ACOTAR behind, and I still have a novella and a novel ahead of me.

WOW. This one had me going THROUGH IT. What a glorious heart-pounding whirlwind. Alliances lost and found, sweeping war across many lands and climates… this is what a true magical fantasy book should be. Of course I love the romance involved and all of the friendships sewn into the heart of this series, but ACOWAR was definitely heavy on intense battle and strategy and unbridled power, which really drew me in even deeper to that fantasy world where anything could happen. And anything DID happen!! While a little slow through the middle of the story after an incredibly cunning and sharp start, the last 200 pages more than made up for it. Edge of my seat with tears in my eyes, ready to slaughter Hybern like a well-trained Illyrian soldier. It was, in a word, EPIC.

LONG LIVE PRYTHIAN!!!!!

I did like this book a lot, not as much as the second one though. My main issue with it is that it could’ve been split into two normal sized books which could’ve been a lot easier to get through.
