No real plot, no chemistry between the love interest and main character, nothing that interests me in the sorry besides the time/money premise which has already been played out it feels like

took up to like 60% for me to actually be locked in. there was nothing bad? about this book, there was just nothing that stuck out to me. i saw a spoiler so i knew what was going to happen, making it predictable which definitely contributed to my lack of total enjoyment. i think that jules as a character was very down to earth and pure which did lead her to be too trusting and miss things. since the book is short it felt like the end was very fast and a lot of things happening i almost couldn’t keep track. i did love the concept and i think it was done pretty well!

I gave it 3 because there was a point where I started to predict things like it was so clear to me even with the twists and turns. I would like to read the sequel! I thought it was still a good read.

I really liked the beginning, but after around 50% it somehow went everywhere and nowhere, and the original plot felt disbanded. Hm. I need some time to think about this book.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Main Character: Jules. I like Jules a lot, maybe more so because of the way I see other reviewers view her as very annoying. I didn't find her annoying, I found her flawed, and I felt the text adequately explained her objectively poor decision-making. Although I understand why it is frustrating to read as a main character makes poor choice after poor choice - in many books, it's a dealbreaker, for soon reason, it didn't bother me here. In particular, involving her romantic interests: For her running into danger

Jules feeling towards Roan felt very justified to me, not so much as a crush she's had since she was seven years only, but her being attached to one of the few people (and only person in power) who has ever been kind to her. I think for a "normal" upbringing, her infatuation would be strange, but in the context of her life, it felt justified.Spoiler
This is usually a big pet peeve of mine, but I think the book establishes how little she has in her life and how little she really has to live for. Her decision-making is bad, but I think she is grieving enough that the decisions are understandable if not justified.Love Interest:
Spoiler
There really isn't one, although by about halfway through, it's clear it will be Liam, not Roan. She may think she "loves" Roan, but I think the author makes it clear we aren't rooting for him.Romance:

Again, there wasn't really any romance in this volume. I read these for the romance, but the rest of the plot was intriguing enough, and there were enough Liam-related romantic breadcrumbs that I was satisfied.Relationship Status at Book End:
