Pretentious and boring. I'm so tired of reading about characters in their 30s that are still so clueless.
I wish I had read reviews of this before I bought it. Darn sale.

This was beautifully written and made me feel a lot of things; the prose is incredibly poignant at times and certainly very effective, but will a month from now, or a year, will this story stay with me? I doubt it. Have I been altered by it at all? Very little, if at all. Are there other ways to judge a book's quality? I'm not sure, there might be but this is mine.
Enjoyable read, though. Made me curious about King as a writer.

I had a hard time compiling my thoughts with this one. There’s something so compelling about books where the main character is just trying to figure out her life. Writers and Lovers was a beautifully written book, Casey’s anxiety and frustrations and uncertainty were palatable. Her grief felt tangible and proved that it’s something that has a rippling effect throughout your life. Lily King’s flow of writing made it so easy to feel what the characters were feeling. To sum, I enjoyed this one but I think you have to be prepared for less of a plot and to just be present with the characters

I can't say much to this book because it's pretty slice-of-life. But, I found myself so intrigued by Casey's life, past, and career and really enjoyed myself through this read. If this was a film, I think this would be the film every young woman would love watching over and over again to feel something--to feel seen in their mundane lives of dating, working crappy jobs, and overcoming trauma.
