Very predictable and a little too slow in my opinion. Definitely not my favorite Freida book.

As a die-hard fan of her previous works, my anticipation levels reached peak millennial when I snagged an ARC of this book. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint!
Once I cracked open those pages, I was completely and utterly hooked from the get-go. The Coworker is a fast-paced whirlwind of a tale that takes you on a heart-pounding journey.
Picture a bunch of quirky characters stuck in a scammy wellness office job, where the vibes are as toxic as a green smoothie gone wrong. Backstabbing? Check. Lies? Double check. And believe it or not, there are even turtles thrown into the mix! Yes, you heard me right, turtles. McFadden has a knack for weaving the absurd into her storytelling, and it's a recipe for pure insanity that you won't be able to resist.
The ending? Oh boy, you'll never see it coming. McFadden's storytelling skills are on full display here, and it's a gift that keeps on giving. She leaves you hanging on by a thread, desperate to know what happens next, until the very last sentence. Trust me, it's a wild journey you won't want to miss.
Cheers to Freida McFadden for serving up another sensational read that proves once again why she's a force to be reckoned with in the world of contemporary fiction and thrillers!
Thank you so much to Edelweiss and Poisoned Pen Press for this ARC! All thoughts and opinions are honest and my own. Book releases on August 29, 2023.

Wow... I barely have words to summarise my feelings about this Freida experience but this was definitely the worst Freida I've read. It was certainly not as fast-paced in my eyes as other plots she has written, it felt like it took an age to get anywhere. I feel as if I could barely even find any humour or at least laugh along with this one, and the characters as always were truly insufferable. I feel like I managed to get through this one purely because I was listening to the audiobook, otherwise I maybe would have dnf'd it sooner, although I am reading her backlist and this was a buddy read so who knows. So as it stands this ranks bottom of the pile and I'm glad I got it finished but I certainly would not recommend this.

The ending was predictable, but the author's writing still made it an enjoyable read.
2/5 stars...
